About Indochina Time

Indochina Time (ICT) is seven hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time and is used by Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and the western portion of Indonesia. The name derives from the historic region of Indochina, the peninsula of Southeast Asia between India and China. Major cities in this zone include Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Jakarta, and Phnom Penh.

ICT covers one of the fastest-growing economic regions in the world. Thailand and Vietnam are major manufacturing and export economies, while Cambodia and Laos have seen rapid development in recent decades. Bangkok, the largest city in the zone, is one of the world's most visited cities and serves as a regional hub for tourism, aviation, and commerce. Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, is included through the Western Indonesian Time (WIB) zone, which shares the same UTC+7 offset.

Indochina Time does not observe daylight saving time. The countries in this zone are located in tropical latitudes where the variation in daylight hours throughout the year is minimal, making DST unnecessary. The zone sits between India Standard Time (UTC+5:30) to the west and China Standard Time (UTC+8) to the east, placing it in the middle of Asia's major economic corridors.
